Our counseling approach

Our approach is rooted in the deep conviction that Scripture is our most reliable guide and that the Holy Spirit is a present, active helper who comforts, heals, and transforms our hearts and lives.

As spiritual beings created in the image of God, any solution that’s going to be truly effective must be theological at its core as human flourishing is only found in right relationship with God and living lives aligned with who we are in Christ. That’s where we experience peace, restoration, healing, and hope.

Any method that ignores these fundamental truths of human nature often offers only temporary relief - focused on symptoms rather than root issues. Complete and lasting change must get down to the most pervasive underlying issues of our being.

While the core issues we address are spiritual, all aspects of our humanity are deeply intertwined, which is why we take into account the whole person. In each of these areas, our beliefs, desires, and actions have often been malformed and are in need of re-formation according to what’s true. This is where our name “Respire” comes from.

We come alongside those navigating pain, confusion, or transition with compassion and seasoned wisdom, offering counsel that is both theologically grounded and personally attentive. Whether you're facing anxiety, depression, grief, addiction, relational challenges, or simply seeking clarity in your walk with Christ, we are here to walk with you—gently, honestly, and in hope.

We don’t offer quick fixes or easy answers. We care about the unique journey of each person and complexity of each person’s needs - offering presence, prayer, and the unwavering truth of God’s Word to help you breathe deeply again and step forward in faith.

What a typical counseling session looks like

Each 60 or 90 minute session offers a safe, unhurried space to explore the challenges you're facing through the lens of God’s Word. These sessions can take place either in-person or online.

We begin with prayer and conversation, seeking to understand your story and how it connects to deeper spiritual truths. Together, we’ll work to uncover heart-level struggles, apply Scripture in meaningful ways, and pursue lasting hope and healing.

Often, some form of journaling, reading, or other work will be given for you to do throughout the week to help deepen reflection, reinforce what we’ve discussed, and continue your growth between sessions.
